The report  by the state Senate Appropriations Committee, issued Monday, put a price tag for the first time on legislation that would make the state responsible for providing health coverage to all 39 million Californians. The state-run system would supplant existing employer health insurance in California, as well as coverage through public programs such as Medicaid and Medicare. Police said a “serious incident” and “a number” of fatalities were reported at Manchester Arena in the U.K. on Monday night, where  Ariana Grande  performed a concert, PEOPLE confirms. “Emergency services responding to serious incident at Manchester Arena. The man, whose name was not released, was pulled off the plane in Shanghai as fellow passengers chanted, “Lock him up” and “Charge him,” according to videos of the incident posted on social media. The incident began Sunday shortly after passengers boarded United Airlines Flight 87 at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport for what was supposed to be a direct flight to Newark International Airport in New Jersey, United Airlines said in a statement.

TORONTO (Reuters) -  Toronto Blue Jays  outfielder  Kevin Pillar  was suspended for two games on Thursday for directing a homophobic slur toward an  Atlanta Braves  pitcher during Wednesday's game. Pillar, one of MLB's best defensive center fielders, shouted at Atlanta's  Jason Motte  after striking out to end the seventh inning on what he felt was a quick pitch. The heated exchange led to the benches being cleared. "Last night, following my at-bat in the seventh inning, I used inappropriate language toward Braves pitcher Jason Motte," Pillar said in a statement. "By doing so I had just helped extend the use of a word that has no place in baseball, in sports or anywhere in society today. The  planned revival of classic sitcom “Roseanne”  is moving forward at  ABC , network president Channing Dungey said Tuesday. “We’re rebooting ‘ Roseanne ,'”Dungey said on a conference call with reporters, adding it is being eyed for a midseason debut. ABC had been competing with Netflix for the new installment of the show. The eight-episode reboot will feature the original cast – Roseanne Barr (Roseanne), John Goodman (Dan), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Michael Fishman (D.J.) and Lecy Goranson (Becky). Sarah Chalke, who played the character Becky in later seasons, will also appear in another role. Johnny Galecki, who played David, currently stars on the CBS sitcom “The Big Bang Theory.” Tom Werner and Bruce Helford will return as executive producers, with Barr and Gilbert also executive producing.
